Chlorine vs. CYA

Ever wonder why you have algae even when you think you have enough chlorine? Let's talk about why.

Chlorine is great for protecting pool water from algae and bacteria. Something that helps chlorine to last longer in your pool water is cyanuric acid, also known as stabilizer or conditioner. Cyanuric acid is an additive that protects chlorine from the destructive UV sunlight. Recommended levels of cyanuric acid are between thirty to fifty parts per million.

However, recent research has shown that increased levels of cyanuric acid can actually decrease the effectiveness of the chlorine to fight algae and bacteria. While the right balance of both chlorine and cyanuric acid in pool water are great, too much cyanuric acid can be quite problematic. You see, while cyanuric acid is a part of great pool water, oftentimes pool owners just aren't aware of how cyanuric acid increases in the water, and they are also not aware of how the increased level of acid decreases the effectiveness of chlorine. The biggest source of cyanuric acid in pool water comes from these.

Trichlor tablets are a mix of chlorine and cyanuric acid. In fact, over fifty percent of this tablet is made up of cyanuric acid. Another way to look at this is to realize that for every ten parts per million of chlorine produced from trichlor, there's six PPM of cyanuric acid contributed to the pool water.

Cyanuric acid does not break down. It only increases in pool water. Latest research has shown it takes more chlorine at higher levels of acid to fight algae and bacteria. Simply put, if the acid level is too high, it will take more chlorine to fight algae in your swimming pool. So with high levels of cyanuric acid, you have only two choices. Use more chlorine, which can be costly, or drain and replace the water from the pool, which can be environmentally a challenge, especially during a time of drought. So what's the solution?

This is Hassa Santa Claus. It's unstabilized and it's been used safely in the pool industry since nineteen sixty four. Distributed in a refillable crate and a bottle system, which not only helps with cost, but landfills too. It's an unstabilized liquid chlorine compound.

Basically, it's a pure, simple pool water sanitizer with no cyanuric acid. HASA SANACLOR uses the pure power of sodium hypochlorite. It takes just ten ounces and ten thousand gallons to get one part per million of effective algae and bacteria fighting chlorine. You can also use a feeding system, like the Hasa liquidator to ensure you get the right amount of chlorine in your pool.

Remember, trichloro tablets are sneaking excessive levels of cyanuric acid into your swimming pool water. When that happens, then algae appears, even though you think you have enough chlorine in the pool. The solution to avoid this problem is simple. Switch to pure Hassa Santa Chlor to keep your pool clean and clear without the hidden side effects.
